The data protection act is a UK act of parliament. It allows the handling of UK information relating to it residents. It the main/only piece of legislation that governs protection of personal data in the UK. The act defines eight principles of information-handling practice. The act impacts on the way in which organisations conduct business in terms of who can be conducted for marketing purposes, not only by telephone and direct mail, but also electronically and has led to the development of permission based marketing strategies.
The child protection act was made to stop child cruelty. It so far has worked well but there are a few things about it that need to be different. The old legislation The child protection bill of 1998 stated that a child is in need of protection if s/he is suffering harm,is at acceptable risk of suffering harm and does not have a parent willing and able to protect them from harm. Including situations where the child is at risk from his parents, from others inside the house where he lives, form others outside.
