Communication
We are hoping to be able to communicate with orchestra members and their families by email and via the website this year, so please ensure that you have provided Cheryl with an up-to-date email address that will accept incoming emails from Cheryl@musicentre.co.uk.
Can orchestra members please ensure that they have registered on the website so that they can keep track of when rehearsals and concerts, as well as other exciting events, will be held (under 16s need to use a nickname for legal reasons). Please see Chris or Rachel for details of how to register if you haven’t already done so.
Contact details
It is vital that we have accurate contact telephone numbers of next of kin for each and every person involved in the Music Centre in case of an incident, so please pick up a form from reception, fill it in and hand it back to reception so that we can keep our records up-to-date.
Concerts
Please put these dates in your diary as it is important for all orchestra members involved to be present at each event.
• Senior and Junior Orchestras – Birthday Concert at Claremont – Thursday 15th October – Senior Rehearsal at 5.30 p.m. – Junior rehearsal at 6.30 p.m. – Concert at 7.30 p.m.
Please support us in this annual celebration of Soar Valley Symphony Orchestra. There will be cake, tea and coffee served afterwards.
• Senior Orchestra only – Remembrance Service at St James the Greater - Sunday 9th November – Rehearsal at 9.00 a.m. – Service at 10.30 a.m.
This is a very serious concert so please can orchestra members ensure they wear full and appropriate black and white concert dress (no short skirts or bare shoulders please). A poppy must also be worn by everyone in the orchestra.
Subs
Subs for Junior and Senior Orchestras are now due (Junior Orchestra £32.50, Senior Orchestra £37.50 or £70.00 per family). Please ensure you pay these before the end of September.
Lessons
Instrumental lessons have now started, if you have not yet sorted these please see Cheryl at the office. Invoices for those that have been arranged have been sent out, mostly by email. If you have not had yours check your junk settings to allow mail from Cheryl@musicentre.co.uk. Please make payment promptly.
Ensembles
If you are involved in one of the many ensembles taking place this year, please check the day and time you are meant to be here as some of the original times have been changed. Invoices have also been sent out for these so, again, please make sure that this payment is made promptly.
GCSE and Theory Lessons
If you are intending to take either of these with us this year, please make sure you have registered. GCSE Music runs on a Monday night 4.45-6.15pm and Theory is on Mondays 4.00-6.00pm, Fridays 4.00-6.00pm and Saturday mornings 10.00am-12.00pm.
French Exchange Visit
For various reasons this exchange visit, originally planned for October, has had to have been postponed and is likely to be re-scheduled for either February or April next year. Please look out for future information regarding this visit.
Exam Fees
If you or your child has been entered for an exam this term the fees for this are now due. Please check at the office to see if you have been entered or for details of the price. The closing date for Autumn term entries and fees is Wednesday September 30th.
Welcome to old members and new
We are pleased to welcome any new members to Soar Valley Music Centre and are delighted to see many of the older members returning for a new term ahead.
