Practical exams:
Distinction - 3
Merit - 14
Pass - 11

Theory exams:
Distinction - 1

Well done everyone.

Open Day Success

On Saturday 13th April the doors of SVMC were thrown wide to anyone who wanted to come along and find out more about what the Music Centre offers. Particularly aimed at young people who were coming to the end of their school years and looking to move onto further education, but open to everyone, there were workshops around the building for DJ and MCing, recording, ensemble work and musical theatre with an emphasis on the work we do with BTEC level two and level 3 students.

SVMC and the Italian Job!

Wind ensemble

A group of 16 students and tutors have just returned from a very successful visit to our friends at the Scuola di musica G. Verdi in Prato, Italy. This high profile music school has been linked with Soar Valley Music Centre for many years and we have enjoyed many exchanges between the two countries. The students had the chance to have lessons with some of the best music teachers in Italy and they ended the week with a joint concert between our players and those of the music school.

Some Sad News

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death last Saturday of our longest standing member of Soar Valley Music Centre, Linda Newton, who has been battling cancer for a long time.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Following the huge success of Beauty and the Beast last year, we can announce, subject to licence approval which we will hopefully have in the next week, Soar Valley Music Centre's musical theatre production for 2013 will be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Rehearsals will start on Wednesday 9th January at 5.30pm and it would be great to see as many people as possible, both old and new.
If you would like any more information please contact us.

Outstanding Exam Results

The Autumn term is usually thin on the ground for exam entries as students regain ground after the summer break. However, this year our students and tutors have worked really hard and not only did we have a good number of entries we had outstanding results as well.

Out of 43 candidates for practical examination we achieved:
8 distinctions
20 merits
and 15 passes

and out of 5 theory candidates we achieved:
3 distinctions
and 2 passes

Congratulations to all our teachers and students on their exceptional success this term.

Exam Success

Well Soar Valley Music Centre has done it again - a fabulous year of exam results.
